This section of the configuration can be accessed from Configuration >> Catalog designer when the app is configured with Superuser role.

Information icon4.svg The current user role can be changed by using the shortcut User role located in the slider menu in the Home screen or going to Preferences >> General settings >> User role.


A Catalog (or also called "menu") is a group of Items organized into Categories.

  • Item: is a product or service offered by the business to its visitors (customers or guests).
  • Category: is a group of Items and Categories (also called Subcategories). A Category may nest categories endlessly.


The main screen of the Catalog designer has the next elements:

    1. Name of current category: all items and categories created will be inside this category by default.
    2. Toolbar: main commands available.
      • Search: allows to search items in the whole catalog. Take a look at Searching items for more information.
      • Add: allows the creation of items or categories. Take a look at Item and Category for more information.
      • Sort: allows sorting the elements of the current category. Take a look at Sorting for more information.
      • Edit: allows the edition of the current category. Take a look at Category for more information.
    3. Panel of current path: describes the category list starting from the root up to the current category that is being viewed.
    4. Shortcut to go to the next higher category.

    5. Row of element (Item row or Category row): each row shows the main attributes of an element, the icon, the name, the description and other attributes related to the type of the element. The row also shows some important commands at the right side:
      • Visibility (eye icon): allows to change the visibility of the element for Guest and Anonymous roles.
      • Delete (ecks icon): deletes the element.
      • Edit (pencil icon): shows up an screen to edit the attibutes of the element.
      • Selector (box icon): allows to select an element to make some bulk action, deletion of selected elements for instance.

Item

An Item is a product or service offered by the business to its visitors (customers or guests).

The main screen of the item view looks like the next capture:

When adding or editing an item, a new screen will show up allowing defining the attributes of the item, below are explained each of them:

Item definition
  • Name.
  • Description.
  • Category: the category where the item is located. The current category can be changed using the pencil icon at the right side.
  • Tags: a comma separated list of up to 7 tags. Each tag is an alphanumeric string with up to 10 characters.
Crystal Clear app ktip.svg Tags are useful to later be able to find tagged items easily. For example you can tag items with the tag "chef" to identify those that are recommended by the chef. Then, when adding items to an order for instance, you can find items easily by using the tag as the search text.


Crystal Clear app ktip.svg The inclusion of tagged items in a category is a feature extremely useful for promoting items.

Try this feature by following the next steps:

  1. Tag items with the tag "week" to indicate they are items that are on sale with discount in the current week.
  2. Create a category called "Offers of the week".
  3. Check the option Include tagged items.
  4. Set the field Filtering tags with the value "week".
  5. Save the category.

In this simple way you have created a category "Offers of the week" containing all items tagged with "week".

  • Prices: defines the list of prices available for the item. Take a look at Item prices for more information.
  • Modifiers: defines the list of modifiers available for the item. Take a look at Item modifiers for more information.
  • Large image: defines the large image for the item. The next commands allow the edition of this image:
    • Take from camera.
    • Select from gallery.
    • Rotate right 90 degrees.
    • Rotate left 90 degrees.
  • Small image: defines the small image (the icon) for the item. The next commands allow the edition of this image:
    • Take from camera.
    • Select from gallery.
    • Rotate right 90 degrees.
    • Rotate left 90 degrees.
    • Select from built-in gallery.
  • Video title: the title of a video. This title is shown only if the field Video Url in YouTube has been defined.
  • Video Url in YouTube: a Url of a video in YouTube.
  • Allow adding to orders for Guest role: if this option is checked, then the item will be able to be added to the order when the app is configured with Guest role.
Information icon4.svg Have into account that there is a global option for allowing items to be able to be added to the order when the app is configured with Guest role, take a look at Order placement behavior for more information.
  • Visible for roles Guest and Anonymous: this option controls if the item is visible for roles Guest and Anonymous.
Information icon4.svg A shortcut of this option when viewing the list of elements in Catalog designer is the eye icon.
  • Slide params: this section allows to define many parameters for each item useful for the Slide player feature, take a look at Slide player for more information.

Category

A Category is a group of Items and Categories (also called Subcategories). A Category may nest categories endlessly.

When adding or editing a category, a new screen will show up allowing defining the attributes of the category, below are explained each of them:

  • Name.
  • Description.
  • Category: the category where the item is located. The current category can be changed using the pencil icon at the right side.
  • Include tagged items: option to include, inside the category, all the tagged items whose tags match the tags provided in the field Filtering tags.

  • Sorting: allows to choose the sorting for the elements contained in the category. Take a look at Sorting for more information.

Searching items

The application has a contextual search engine that makes it easy to find items containing the input expression.

When you are navigating through the catalog or when adding items to an order, the search engine makes it easy to find items belonging to the catalog containing the expression entered in any of the following fields:

  • Name.
  • Description.
  • Tags.
